FNWF and Bellarine Quilters

I felt quite productive last night....
..blocks are cut for the Aussie hero quilt....now they need to have borders....

and I sandwiched, quilted and binded I want to say!! Lol!! Sewed the binding on these two little quilts.....they are ready for hand sewing now.
Thank you for hosting Cheryll...I had the best evening, rounded off by watching Australia...never seen that movie until last night and I have to say I enjoyed it!! Even has a few tears!! While doing a little knitting.
An appeal went out today from KOGO...they are short of knitted scarves and beanies.....all the knitted goodies are flying out the door because we have had such a cold winter. If you have spare knitted scarves or beanies or feel like knitting one, KOGO would love them. You can see patterns and ideas on their KOGO site and where to drop things off.
Today I went to Port Arlington to the Bellarine Quilters UFO day...today there was a purpose though, they needed sand bags to put on the base of quilt stands for next years quilt show...so we cut and sewed up a storm......the fabric was curtain off cuts and it will be perfect....
Linda sewing away.....

Mary giving me the hurry along...more sewing less taking photos!! Lol!! Barbara sewing....
after lunch (sushi and salad and garlic bread!!Yum!!) we were given a demo of a frame the group has for sandwiching your quilt...
the backing fabric is pinned to the tape on the edge of the frame, the frame squared up, the wadding put on top, then the quilt top...

and then the pinning begins from one end, everything is smoothed towards the other end......it took these ladies about 15 mins from start to finish.very clever piece of equipment...and goes to show you learn something new every day!!

Happy sewing.
